Abstract
Crystalline transition metal chalcogenides have evoked considerable interest in the physics and chemistry community. The transition metal chalcogenides also exist in amorphous and poorly crystalline forms which have particularly useful catalytic and electrochemical properties. In this review we discuss the current understanding of the preparation, properties and structure of these compounds. Keywords
