Abstract
Irrespective of the mode of administration, little or no conversion of carotene occurred in vit. A deficient icteric rats. Treatment of rats with P (but not with benzene, chloroform, or CCl4) led to a decreased ability to transform carotene to vit. A. Icteric rats can absorb vit. A from the intestines. The exps. suggest that the liver is the organ in which carotene is chiefly converted to vit. A.This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
