Abstract
The use of infiltration series is a valuable technique for rapid estimation of the degree of opening of stoinata. Materials previously suggested for this purpose are toxic to plant tissue. The authors suggest the use of mixtures of Nujol with n-dodecane, n-tetradecane or Bayol-D, all of which are non-toxic to the leaves of most plants. An example is presented in which a series was prepared with n-dodecane and Nujol in ten concentrations ranging in order of decreasing penetrability from 100% to 10% n-dodecane. This series was used to study the cycle of stomatal opening of coffee leaves in sunlight and in shade during two consecutive days. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
