Abstract
Charge transfer equilibria between bromine, iodine, iodine chloride and iodine bromide as acceptors and various meta and para-substituted pyridines as donors have been studied spectrophotometrically in carbon tetrachloride at 30°C. Formation constants of the complexes have been correlated with Hammett's substituent constants, ionization constants of the donors and acid strength of the acceptors. Correlations with intermolecular and/or interhalogen spectral parameters are also discussed.Keywords
