Abstract
The ability of the chick to utilize the amino acids in wheat gluten has been shown to be correlated with the essential amino acid content of this material. A slight imbalance can be corrected by means of small amounts of supplemental amino acids (lysine, threonine, and tryptophan) in order to bring about optimum growth. In the course of this investigation it has been demonstrated that the very young chick has a higher growth requirement for methionine relative to the other essential amino acids than does the somewhat larger, older chick. Keywords
