The Clinical Value of Vectorcardiography

Abstract
The technique for recording vectorcardiograms is discussed briefly in an attempt to make the close relationship between vectorcardiograms and ordinary scalar ecgs clear. The importance of general agreement in the choice of orthogonal leads that give accurate transverse (x), vertical (y), and sagittal (z) components of cardiac voltages for the registration of vectorcardiograms is emphasized. Good orthogonal leads are currently available, and their general use would not only help to standardize and improve the technique of vectorcardiography but would also greatly simplify the procedure for recording ordinary ecgs.
