Abstract
The effect of injection of antibodies [ewe] to synthetic LH-RH [luteinizing hormone releasing hormone] on progesterone-induced LH release and ovulation was studied. The inhibition of the progesterone-induced rise in the concentration of LH and the inhibition of egg laying in the hen after injection of antibodies to LH-RH shows that the antibody inhibited the action of LH-RH. Chicken LH-RH must be immunochemically similar to the LH-RH decapeptide. Positive feedback in the chicken requires the presence of LH-RH. The mechanism is mediated primarily through the hypothalamus.
