Abstract
A small and convenient apparatus which permits extraction of about 90% of urinary androgens in 1 hr. with benzene is described. Recovery expts. made in part with the aid of this apparatus show that a significant amt. of andro-sterone and of dyhydroisoandrosterone is lost in the prep. of urine extracts for colorimetric assay. The chief loss occurs when the ether extract is cleared with decolorizing charcoal. The amount of androgenic "sterone" substances detd. by the usual colorimetric methods which include treatment with decolorizing charcoal as part of the procedure is not an accurate index of the original "sterone" content of the urine. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
