Abstract
Addition of large amounts of helium to the Ne‐O2 8446‐Å laser has used the multiple resonances of helium and neon excited states to improve lasing output by a factor of 3. A lower power supply voltage requirement was also obtained and lasing in a mixture of He‐Ne‐O2 was found for total pressures well over 200 Torr. Stable pulsed operation for periods of greater than one week are now possible in sealed‐off laser cells due to the higher‐pressure operation. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
