Abstract
A stochastic mixing model is developed for turbulent flow in homogeneous plug‐flow reactors. The model is based on random coalescence and redispersion of fluid elements. Of special significance is its applicability when mixing and reaction rates are comparable, as well as when either rate dominates. The model's parameters may be determined by measuring conversion with instantaneous reactions. Experimental results reported by others are successfully simulated. Keywords
