Abstract
Proline contents in common Swedish potato varieties have been determined by paperchromatography before and after irradiating the tubers. The results of the investigation indicate that there is a correlation between proline content and sprouting. It is also shown that there is an influence of [gamma] -rays on the proline metabolism. The reason for the accumulation of proline in irradiated tubers is discussed.Keywords
