Abstract
Previous work showing that factor V, serum, brain and Ca react together to form an active prothrombin conversion factor ("extrinsic thrombo-plastin") is confirmed. The active components in serum in respect of this reaction are shown to include both factor VII and Stuart factor (SF) but not PTC (factor DC). Factor VII primarily affects rate while SF appears to influence yield.
