Abstract
The design, construction and performance characteristics of a double-beam optoacoustic spectrometer suitable for recording corrected spectra of small solid and liquid samples in the wavelength range 0.25–2.5 µm are described. Typical spectra obtained for rare earth oxides, titanium(IV) oxides, catalase, blood, cystine and kaolinite are presented in order to illustrate the performance of the instrument. The application of the spectrometer to record conventional solution transmittance spectra is also reported.
