Drugs and the Learning and Performance of Fear.

Abstract
Moderate dosages of chlordiazepoxide (CDP), chlorpromazine (CPZ), and alcohol were administered to rats in a balanced factorial design permitting the separate assessment of drug effects on the acquisition and expression of conditioned fear. CDP attenuated fear expression and probably acquisition, while CPZ reduced fear acquisition only. Alcohol reduced neither fear acquisition nor its expression once it had been learned.
