Abstract
Polarization-induced pairing is among the variety of mechanisms considered relevant to high- superconductivity. We have recently shown that accounting for the vibronic polarizabilities results in increased pairing energies. These premises are now discussed on a more rigorous basis using quantum field theory. Specific models are described which may materialize in particular oxide systems.
