Abstract
Reports on a theoretical study of the n=2 excitation processes in He-He collisions at energies of 125 and 500 eV. In order to test quantitatively the collision mechanisms proposed by Barat et al. the authors have calculated ab initio potential energies and couplings of some molecular states of the He2 system. The resulting six-state quantum close-coupling problem was solved, providing total and differential cross sections which are then compared with the experimental results of Morgenstern et al. (1973), Brenot et al. (1975) and Kempter et al. (1975).Keywords
