Abstract
Cytogenetical evidence shows H. murinum and H. leporinum are conspecific. The pattern of speciation in the complex is similar to that of wheat hybridization followed by chromosome doubling being the main factors. H. glaucumwas found to be one of the diploid progenitors of the tetraploid group and tetraploid H. murinum was shown to be a component of the hexaploid murinum species. The hexaploid murinum species was reported here for the first time; its karyotype was described and its relationship to the other species was established. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
