Abstract
The authors obtained positive skin tests of the immediate type in patients with echinococcus disease, using saline extract antigens prepared from Taenia serrata, T. saginata, Hymenolepis fraterna, Moniezia expansa, Raillietina cesticillus, Diphyllo-bothrium mansonoides, and Sparganum mansonoides. A polysaccharide fraction of T. crassicollis also gave positive tests. The results obtained by direct testing in patients were corroborated by passive transfer skin tests in normal subjects. The intensity of the reactions corresponded well with the taxonomic classification of the related parasites. The significance of these findings and their diagnostic application are discussed. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
