Pituitary control of alimentary blood flow and secretion - Changes in the stomach produced by the administration of posterior pituitary extract

Abstract
The adm. of post, pituitary extracts containing the pressor fraction to monkeys, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice leads to acute lesions in the parts of the stomach containing acid-secreting cells. The macroscopic and histological changes are described. Similar lesions can be produced by 15 mg./kg. doses of BaCl2. Hypophysectomy produces in some cases stomach erosions and changes in the oxyntic cells, but no chronic ulcers comparable with the post-pituitary produced lesions.
