Abstract
A theoretical analysis of the mechanics of formation of a snarl in a twisted filament is given and leads to prediction of the tension-contraction relation. This is then applied to multifilament yarns analogous to torque-stretch yarns. The behaviour of real yarns is discussed, and results are compared with the predictions. Keywords
