Abstract
The gas‐phase cis‐trans isomerization of 1,3‐pentadiene, photosensitized by a thin polymeric film, has been studied at λ ≥ 300 mμ and 50°C in the pressure range 5 to 200 torr. The observed photostationary state and the influence of substrate pressure on the rate of isomerization suggest a reaction mechanism similar to that proposed for triplet photosensitized isomerizations in solutions[2].Keywords
