Abstract
An electrogeometric model is utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of overhead skywire and tower networks in shielding substation equipment from direct lightning strokes. Monte Carlo techniques are used to simulate the service performance of shielding designs. An evaluation of the sensitivity of the technique to uncertainties in the design parameters is made. Keywords
