Some Studies in Experimental Renal Hypertension

Abstract
Hypertension was produced in 10 mongrel dogs by unilateral nephrectomy and applying a Goldblatt clamp to the artery of the other kidney. Later partial nephrectomy was performed in 5 of the dogs and sham operation in the others. The former procedure restored blood pressure to normal values. It is concluded that diminution in pulse pressure does not account for hypertension and that relative ischemia plays a role.
