Abstract
It is shown that, in the low-temperature limit, the effective-medium approximation predicts a universal frequency dependence of the conductivity of nonmetallic disordered solids. The calculation is based on a macroscopic approach to ac conduction and is valid in more than one dimension. The universality prediction is confirmed by simulations in two dimensions. Keywords
