THE METABOLIC REDUCTION OF 16α-HYDROXY-OESTRONE TO OESTRIOL IN MAN

Abstract
SUMMARY: 16α-Hydroxyoestrone was administered by intramuscular injection in propylene glycol solution to a normal man and to a postmenopausal woman. In the two experiments 44 and 33% respectively of the administered substance was subsequently excreted in the urine as oestriol. No evidence indicative of the metabolic conversion of 16α-hydroxyoestrone to oestrone or oestradiol-17β was obtained.
