Abstract
Streptococci which did not produce exo-toxin were isolated from suspected foci of infection of patients with chronic disease and tested for their resistance to various agents. The resistance of different strains varied considerably. However, the resistance of a strain to the "bactericidal" action of fresh, defibrinated guinea pig blood was correlated with its resistance to critical time/dilutions of Na2C03, NaHCOs, hexylresorcinol, phenol, basic fuchsin, "Merthiolate," etc. For example, there was agreement in resistance to 1:200,000 hexylresorcinol and 0.3% NaHCOs in 99.2% of 1868 strains. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
