Abstract
Examination of 32 spp. showed 3 types of sori: subepidermal, superstomal "A," and superstomal "B." It is suggested that on this basis the genus may be divided into subgenera. Support is given to the view that teliospore variations and presence or absence of sporogenous basal cells are not sure bases of generic distinction. Primary sori may be truer indices of phylogenetic relationship than secondary sori. Synopsis of the spp. studied is included. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
