Abstract
A method is described for the preparation of smooth muscle strips from resistance vessels 200 to 300 [mu] in diameter. Contractions were recorded when such strips from several vascular beds (mesenteric, renal, pulmonary and cerebral) were stimulated by various physiologically active agents. Individuality of smooth muscle from the several beds was evident in the responsiveness to epinephrine, norepinephrine, 5-hydroxytryptamine, angiotensin II amide and vasopressin. Smooth muscle from all resistance vessels responded similarly when stimulated with KC1.Keywords
