Abstract
The items of the information subtest from the revised Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-(WAIS-R) were examined in regard to possible content bias. Of the 4 new items in this subtest, 2 were disproportionately difficult in terms of proportions of patients who passed the item. Of the 4 items which are routinely Canadianized, 3 were also disproportionately difficult. A normative study to establish the hierarchy of difficulty for a Canadian population is needed. Until such a study is done, a priori Canadianization or item substitution is unwarranted. Keywords
