Abstract
The formal calculation of the scattering of neutrons by a magnetized atom leads to a result which is ambiguous in the forward direction. It is shown that, if this singularity is correctly taken into account, apparent discrepancies between macroscopic and atomistic calculations are eliminated. Keywords
