Effects of Plaster of Paris Implants on Osteogenesis in the Mandible of Dogs

Abstract
Plaster of Paris (CaSo4) was successfully implanted in the mandible of 12 experimental mongrel dogs. The plaster was implanted between the bone edges after an ostectomy was performed which produced a surgical fracture. Fifty % more experimental animals than control animals revealed clinical and roentgenographic evidence of bony union. Plaster of Paris seems to promote bony union.
