Abstract
The products of the reaction between rhodium trihalides and tertiary phosphines of varying basicity have been investigated. According to the nature of the solvent and/or the particular phosphine, hydrido-complexes of rhodium(III)[RhHX2L3](X = Cl, Br, I; L = PPh3, PEtPh2, PEt2Ph), complexes of rhodium(I)[RhCIL3](L = PPh3, PEtPh2), and a trichloro-complex of formula RhCl3(PEt2Ph)3 were obtained. From the hydrido-derivatives, complexes with a rhodium–mercury bond [Rh(HgX)X2(PEtPh2)3], carbonyl complexes [RhX(CO)(PEtPh2)2], and a diamagnetic binuclear complex of formula [Rh2Cl4(PEtPh2)4] were obtained. From the chloro-complexes of rhodium(I), cis-dihydrido-complexes of rhodium(III)[RhH2CIL3] were obtained. Keywords
