Abstract
We have observed the -shell-associated noncharacteristic radiation emitted in Al-Al and Ni-Ni collisions in the range 0.1-0.75 MeV/nucleon and determined the production cross section. We find that most of the predictions of Lichten regarding the cross section are borne out by the experimental data.
