Abstract
We compare the energy bands, binding and cohesive energies, projected densities of states, and Fermi surface of W calculated with the spin-orbit interaction included ab initio with an earlier semirelativistic calculation. The Fermi surface consists of two (one electron and one hole) large simply connected sheets.
