Formation and evolution of dust in novae

Abstract
We discuss the formation and evolution dust in nova winds. The ability of a nova to produce carbon and/or silicate dust is determined by the propagation of ionization fronts through the ejected material rather than by a single nova parameter (such as speed class). We also describe the changing physical and chemical properties of the dust as the stellar and gaseous remnants evolve.
