Abstract
The anisotropy and magnetostriction of GdAl2 has been studied by torque and strain-gauge measurements on single crystals. The temperature dependence of the constants are quite complicated but some evidence is presented which points to anisotropic s-f exchange as the principal origin of the effects. Keywords
