Abstract
It is known from calorimetric measurements1 that methanol exists in two crystalline modifications: an α-form which is ther-modynamically stable below 157.8°k and a β-form which is stable between the solid-solid transition and the melting point of 175.37°K. The entropy of the solid-solid transition is quite small, 1.077 cal mole−1K−1.Keywords
