Abstract
The mechanism of Raynaud''s Disease is described as the additive effect of a derangement in personality and socioeconomic factors, plus exposure to cold which induces the vaso-spasm of the disease. Thrombi in the minute vessels convert it from a cyclic to a sustained disturbance. Successful treatment follows when the patient is helped with his emotional disturbances and when a collateral circulation is established by the use of papaverine HC1 and histamine iontophoresis. It was found that when papaverine was slowly administered intraven. in a dilute soln. of normal saline concurrently with the introduction of histamine into the skin by iontophoresis, the greatest amt. of sustained vaso-dilatation was attained. Keywords
