Abstract
Primary myocardial disease is less rare than has been believed. The diagnosis can be made more frequently in practice if the clinical picture is familiar, if cardio-megaly is carefully sought, and if the value of electrocardiography in infancy is appreciated. The clinician''s task is important, despite the gaps in our knowledge of etiology and pathology, for on diagnosis depends what may prove to be life-saving treatment. Keywords
