Abstract
A retrieval program, called Thomas and described elsewhere, attempts to satisfy the user from structural models it builds of the user's problem area and its database. The retrieval strategy is based on a dialogue model between an information expert and an information seeker. This paper discusses an implemen tation of Thomas which incorporates weighting based on the strength of association between items in the database. Experi ments show that the new system, called Thomas-II, requires less effort from the user than Thomas. Keywords
