Abstract
Noise measurements in Nb, due to Fleming and to Monceau and Richard, are discussed in a damped kink-motion model. noise in particular can be interpreted at large applied electric field, as well as noise at lower temperature. On the basis of Fleming's results relative to the higher-temperature charge-density wave (CDW), a hierarchy is suggested among the two CDW's.
