Abstract
Research on charismatic leadership in organizations has been sparse and remains inconclusive. In particular, a more systematic approach to differentiate types of charismatic leadership is needed. In this paper, we call for a research agenda focusing on the subjective and affective relationship established in the dyad leader-follower. We argue that the self psychology model is particularly suited for addressing this research agenda, propose a typology of charismatic leader ship with positive and negative outcomes, and suggest directions for future research. Keywords
