Abstract
A concept of cumulative damage at stress cycling through a study of data from previous investigations is presented. The fundamental nature of cumulative damage at strain cycling and cumulative damage at strain cycling based upon experimental dath are reported. It is shown that initial understressing improves the overall fatigue life at two stress levels. Initial overstressing was found to decrease the over-all fatigue life at two stress levels. (J.E.D.)
