Abstract
The search for an effective treatment for operable breast cancer combining cosmetically acceptable local control and maximal probability of cure is being conducted worldwide. The role of surgery is changing, with less emphasis on super-radical procedures. A combined approach is evolving in which treatment depends upon the participation of surgeon, pathologist, radiotherapist and medical oncologist. The results of tested combined treatment schedules are reviewed in this paper. Keywords
