Abstract
A single crystal x‐ray diffraction study of the cation distribution in the garnet Eu3Fe1.94Ga3.06 has been made. The greater preference of the Ga3+ions for the tetrahedral sites with respect to the one of the Fe3+ions, already postulated from magnetic measurements, has been confirmed. The fraction f t = 0.91 ± 0.03 of the total Ga3+ in the crystal is found in the tetrahedral sites, while only 0.103 of the total Fe3+ is found in these sites. Keywords
