Abstract
The extent to which British Sand Martins attempt second broods varies annually, but cannot be measured since birds change mates and even colony. Females will remate while their first-brood young are still dependent, left in the care of the males. This paper was awarded the 1982 Sparrow and Boddy Prize, for the year's most original piece of amateur research submitted to a BTO journal. Keywords
