Abstract
Various pyridoazoles have been synthesized and tested against respiratory syncytical virus, Flu-V (A-Ishikawa/17/82), and herpes simplex virus (KOS-1). Among these compounds, 2-carboxy-4-ethoxycarbonyl-1-oxo-1H,5H-pyrido[1,2-a]benzimidazole (2) and 2-benzamido-4-cyano-1-oxo-1H,5H-pyrido[1,2-a]benzimidazole (4) were found to have significant antiviral activity. Keywords
