Abstract
Decision analysis provides a tool for explicitly considering the potential impact of a therapeutic intervention by simultaneously evaluating a variety of factors that might affect its effectiveness, taking into account patient views of different health outcomes on quality of life. By varying the various estimates across an array of plausible values, it is possible to gain an understanding of the range of likely benefits and harms associated with differing treatment strategies.
