Abstract
The relations between the gross energy concentration of milk and its concentration of fat and protein were calculated for samples of Jersey and Friesian milk. Stage of lactation and level of feeding had no consistent effects on the relations. The calculated equations can be used to predict the energy concentrations of milk from Jersey or Friesian cows fed on pasture, from the concentrations of fat alone or from the concentrations of fat and protein. The predicted values agree with those predicted by earlier published equations. Keywords
