Endocardial Fibroelastosis Occurring in a Mother and Son

Abstract
Endocardial fibroelastosis occurring in a mother and her infant son is reported. The relationship between the cardiac disease in the mother and that in the infant is uncertain, although two etiologic factors are possible. The first of these is a genetic predisposition to the disease. The second is a viral infection with myocarditis in the mother and with secondary viral infection of the infant.
